Biography
Dr. Don Sand is a leader in public oral health in Hawaii, a trusted group practice systems consultant, and an experienced frontline dentist. Since 2015, he has been a key figure in developing strategic plans to improve oral healthcare access and quality for underserved communities across the islands. Dr. Sand has worked on enhancing dental programs on four of Hawai‘i’s islands and has played a pivotal role in planning, funding, and launching two new dental initiatives. He joined Molokai Community Health Center’s dental team in January 2025 where he applies his broad knowledge base into MCHC’s expanded dental program.
With a deep understanding of both community health systems and private practice dental delivery models, Dr. Sand is recognized as a results-driven professional dedicated to advancing oral health. He is one of two dentists serving on the Board of Directors for Hawai‘i Hospitals, where he champions the integration of oral health with overall primary care.

Outside of his professional work, Dr. Sand enjoys ocean activities such as swimming, canoe paddling, surfing, and fishing, striving to live the spirit of Aloha in both his personal and professional life.
