Biography
Melanie Dwyer serves as Chief Executive Officer of Hospice Maui, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing exceptional hospice and palliative care services to patients and families across Maui County, including the island of Molokai. With more than two decades of leadership experience in healthcare operations, nursing, and community-based care delivery, Melanie is deeply committed to ensuring that compassionate, patient- and family-centered care is accessible to everyone.
Under her leadership, Hospice Maui has strengthened and expanded services for Molokai, supporting patients with both home-based hospice and community palliative care, while working closely with local providers and families to ensure culturally grounded, high-quality end-of-life care.
Serving on the Board of the Molokai Community Health Center (MCHC) is especially meaningful to Melanie because of her belief that Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) are vital to Hawaii’s healthcare safety net. She views MCHC as a cornerstone of the Molokai community—ensuring that care is accessible, equitable, and reflective of the island’s values.
Melanie shares, “Being part of MCHC’s board allows me to contribute to a mission that deeply aligns with Hospice Maui’s—caring holistically for patients and their families. I’m honored to support the work of such a dedicated team and to strengthen the continuum of care for the people of Molokai.”
