Join us on our journey….
In 2010, MCHC moved our to our current 5.9 acres of beautiful ocean-front property in central Molokai in the hub of Kaunakakai. This is where we call home.
The project of restoring the old “Pau Hana Inn”, a property rich in story and nightlife all its own, took shape as the vision and planning of those who came before us was birthed into being. The project of restoration was organized into three phases. *See “2020 Phase III CIP” for full project and vision.
MCHC’s Phase III initiative was conceptualized and designed with the vision to link Molokai agencies together, enhance access to care, create needed jobs for Molokai residents, provide a healthy dining experience, support island agriculture, support growth to meet the demands of the community, and a place to experience healthcare in a new way or…in some cases, the traditional ways.
A gathering place for keiki, adults, family, and kupuna to come together as a community in health. After all – the health of our bodies, is the health of our homes, and the health of our ‘aina.
In this endeavor of promoting, fostering, tending to and creating space for wellness and healing – we invite you to learn more about our project and join us in it’s development in the next year to come.
Ma Ka Hana Ka Ike (“In the work, we learn”, olelo no’eau or Native Hawaiian proverb)
MCHC has partnered with Holani Hana, 501 ( c ) 3 non profit from Hana, Maui, in working with Master, traditional hale builder – Uncle Francis Sinenci. Holani Hana has sought out and developed a Molokai based team of builders to learn and lead in the building of MCHC’s three traditional Native Hawaiian Hale. Stay tuned for opportunities to join in the work, in ma ka hana ka ike, understanding that it is the experiences in which we retain intelligence, knowledge and ultimately, heal.
